Jesuit High School’s project Joshua House Resource Center built a house for a mother and her children. Shelving, books, magazines, desks, chairs, computers, and college resources were bought with the FLOF grant. Montverde High School’s project Operation Christmas Child created shoe boxes filled with pencils, toys, hard candy, and other small items to be given to orphans. Eighty shoeboxes were put together and shipped. Suwanee High School’s project Blankets for Cops provided each deputy with a fleece blanket to carry in their cruisers. These blankets are used to comfort victims of rape, domestic or child abuse, homeless citizens, or victims who have lost their homes to a fire. The Community School of Naples’ project Guadalupe Summer Camp helped students in grades K-2nd practice their reading and math skills, work with computers, enjoy art projects, and participate in different sports for a week in summer. Montverde High School’s American Cancer Society Project contributed to the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron Ball Fundraiser by donating a basket to the silent auction. The basket was called “Kids N Knowledge” and was filled with educations items for PK3 through second grade. Gulf Breeze High School’s Dictionary Project ordered 576 dictionaries that were distributed to 3rd graders while explaining the importance of a dictionary. Cardinal Newman High School’s project Mission Recycling raised awareness about the environment and educated students about going green, recycling, and Earth-friendliness. Choctawhatchee High School’s Home Coming: Children’s Book Project bought books that were taken to a local elementary school and read to 2nd graders. Coconut Creek High School’s project Game Night purchased games and entertainment to play at children and nursing homes as a way to socialize and keep their children and seniors entertained. Miami Lakes Education Center’s project Kan Kan Dance collected cans to be used to purchase turkeys and hams for gift baskets. Southeast High School’s project 2nd Annual World Hunger Banquet hosted a banquet to spread awareness through hands-on experience of the social plague of hunger. Blake High School’s project Reduce, Reuse, Recycle enlightened children on the effects of recycling through interactive activities which encouraged them to better their environment. |
